40Days Of Gratitude With Bev Allen - Day 18: Shelter

"Bird Condo" Birding colony

Welcome to 40 Days Of Gratitude day 18!  Thank the Lord for week 3.  Thank you for staying with me on this adventure. I am looking forward to reading your comments and sharing your stories:  Revelations, problems solved, ideas conceived and birthed etc.

At the end of the devotion I invite you to do a short quiet reflection of 5 - 10 minutes. Breath deeply and focus on your breath - inhalation and exhalation.  If your mind is "busy" repeat the gratitude of the day or your own personal gratitude that comes to mind.  This quite time will allow you to hear from God.

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

Today I am grateful and thankful for shelter.  Lord, you know our needs and desires and you know how important it is to have stable and comfortable shelter; and in this area you have been faithful also.  When I see how many are homeless even in a prosperous country like Canada, I count my blessings continually.  You have instructed us as your children not to worry about anything, not the food we eat, or the clothes we wear, or our shelter, because you provide for the birds and the wild animals, and you told us that we are more precious to you than they.  You promised to provide for me and you have been true to your words.

THOUGHT TO FOCUS ON:

Home is where the hearth  and the heart (the warmth and the love) is.

SCRIPTURE:

Psalm 23:1 (AMP)-The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.
Suggestion:  Read the entire chapter, it's short.

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, thank you so much for always providing comfortable housing in great in this great country for me and my family to call home.  I also thank you for giving me the vision to see value in what others snub, strength and courage at every turn; plus the wisdom to know when and how. You even send loyal, hardworking and honest workmen when I need help, workmen who are willing to go the extra mile - no matter which trade, you send me the right people every time.  One thousand tongues would not be enough to praise you, O Lord. Now as the winter sets in, my heart aches for those who are homeless and for those who have been displaced by life's harsh circumstances.  Speak directly to the hearts of policy makers, as well as the needy and send swift help.  Let me never be one of those pious Christians who say "go, I'll pray for you" when I may have an answer to the cry of any your children.

In Jesus name I pray.  AMEN ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

We are instructed by the Jesus through his teaching in the gospels to ask for what we need and want, to have faith and to depend on God to provide for us.  I always say God doesn't come down in a cloud of smoke like a genie with a wand.  He does this through opportunities that appear, through acts of kindness and generosity through the people he use to do his bidding.  This is also how God work through you and me so if you get the urge to do a good deed or something special for someone, go right a head, do not suppress it, you may just be blocking your own blessings.

A terrific Tuesday to you,

Beverley

I am so grateful to have a place to call "home" because a house is not a home. Thank you Lord.
