40Days Of Gratitude With Bev Allen - Day 14: Complete Acceptance & Love Of Self

I love capturing nature on
camera, backyard bloom.

Welcome to 40 Days Of Gratitude day 14!  Thank the Lord we have made it to the end of week two; and thank you for staying with me on this adventure. I am looking forward to reading your comments and sharing your stories:  Revelations, problems solved, ideas conceived and birthed etc.
πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

At the end of the devotion I invite you to do a short quiet reflection of 5 - 10 minutes. Breath deeply and focus on your breath - inhalation and exhalation.  If your mind is "busy" repeat the gratitude of the day or your own personal gratitude that comes to mind.  This quite time will allow you to hear from God.

πŸ‘ΌπŸ‘ΌπŸ‘Ό

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

Today I am grateful and thankful for complete acceptance and love of self: the being that I AM.
I am thankful for the journey you, Lord, have taken me on and the path that lead me to full acceptance and appreciation for ME. I am enough just as you have created me.  You, Oh Lord, knew me before the world was formed, and you, God, chose my BIRTH PARENTS and my BIRTH COUNTRY just like you chose Mary to be mother of Jesus, and chose Joseph and Mary to be his parents.  You chose Jesus' family and you chose MINE, glory to God.  You could have picked a royal family for Jesus, but you didn't, you picked humble folks of modest means.

THOUGHT TO FOCUS ON:

I AM! I was designed by God and chosen to be born in this generation and that is incredible.

SCRIPTURE:

Jeremiah 1:5 (KJV)-Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained a profit unto the nations.

PRAYER:

Righteous God, you are awesome in all your ways. Thank you for helping me come to the understanding that you chose me, and that I am precious to you. Help me to use every opportunity I get to help as many of your children as are in need to come in to this knowledge. Help me also to be humble in service to you and always be glad to do your work.

In Jesus name I pray.  AMEN πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

➢➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣

Can you count 7 plus billion? I bet you not! Any yet there are no two of these seven billion plus that have the same finger prints.  This is beyond awesome. Breathe and let that sink in for a minute.  So how dare you believe that you are not special, and how dare you believe others over your Sovereign God? When this knowledge sunk into the depths of my soul I went around all day asking God to forgive me for not believing him; while also forgiving myself. Do this, and free yourself, at last!

Glow with awesomeness today,

Beverley

40Days Of Gratitude with Bev Allen - Day 13: The Lessons Of Hindsight

Wind chime in my
back garden

Welcome to 40Days Of Gratitude day 13!  Thank the Lord we are now on week two and thank you for joining me on this adventure.

Today I am grateful and thankful for the lessons of hindsight.  There's the saying that hindsight is 20/20.  As I  looked back on my mistakes and failures I had a perfect vision of what I did wrong and I sometimes pontificated that if I did this, or did that the results would have been what I expected or wanted.  Number one leadership guru and the author of nearly 100 best selling books, John C. Maxwell penned the popular book Sometimes We Win, Sometimes We Learn.  John's philosophy is that our mistakes and failures should be examined and the lessons extracted from the experiences to help us grow and develop into better leaders. I am thankful for this great influencer and the impact his teaching is having on my life.

THOUGHT TO FOCUS ON:

If it doesn't kill me it will make me stronger.  I will take the lesson from each experience and move on.

SCRIPTURE:

1 Corinthians 11 (TPT) - All the tests they endured on their way through the wilderness are a symbolic picture, an example that provides us with a warning so that we can learn through what they experienced.  For we live in a time when the purpose of all the ages past is now completing its goal within us.

PRAYER:

Heavenly father, I give you the praise, the honour and the glory for helping me turn my mistakes into lessons and my disappointments into victories.  I thank you, and I appreciate you,

In Jesus name I pray.  AMEN πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

➢➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣

Tonight's after work plans to meet up with some fellow John Maxwell Team "JMTers" for dinner got cancelled so Glynis, a member of the group, invited me to attend Speaker Slam, an inspirational speaking competition downtown Toronto. I agreed but didn't purchase my ticket right away.  As it got close to the time to leave work, I thought of the traffic heading into the city and hesitated for a moment then quickly purchased the ticket and was on my way.  Traffic was not bad at all and I got prime underground parking for $5.00. $5.00!! The speakers and topics were incredible, needless to say, it was an exhilarating experience.  I am flowing with life, and it is leading me where I am supposed to be.

Sing a new song today, or rap it - if it  doesn't kill me, it will make me stronger!

Have a terrific Thursday,
Beverley

40Days Of Gratitude with Bev Allen - Day 12: Foresight

Summer cruise around Toronto Island

Welcome to 40Days Of Gratitude day 11!  Thank the Lord we are now on week two and thank you for joining me on this adventure.

Today I am grateful and thankful for the gift of foresight - the ability to see down the road.  Here also, Lord, I have been a work in progress as it took the better part of my adult life to start trusting you on this. Like so many of your precious people I was deceived into believing that I was not educated enough, not connected enough, not powerful or privileged enough to have the foresight or opinions I have.  Because of this I muted my voice for so long but I have been set free.  I am becoming all that you intended me to be.

THOUGHT TO FOCUS ON:

I am. Because God says so!

SCRIPTURE:

Proverbs 20:3 (AMP)-It is an honour for a man to keep away from strife by handling situations with thoughtful foresight; But any fool will start a quarrel without regard for the consequence.

PRAYER:

Precious Lord, Jesus, I cannot thank you enough for the people in my life I consider the lifelines you threw me.  Their encouragement and steadfast support has been ever present as a grow in your Grace. I appreciate and cherish you and those vital relationships. Let me be always on the ready to be your hands, feet, ears and voice when you need me to be.

In Jesus name I pray.  AMEN πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

➢➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣

Being able to foresee consequences and implications as well as benefits and future impact is a gift from God. Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs - and others famous and not so famous who have positively impacted the world, their communities and their families had the foresight to press forward with their visions.  Seek it, find and develop it because the rewards are great. Also encourage others who display this gift by complementing and encouraging them.  By doing this we help those who lack confidence to find their voice.

Be a blessing to as many people as you can today,
Beverley

40Days Of Gratitude with Bev Allen - Day 11: Insight and Inspiration

You hear from God on a
quiet walk when the dew
is still on the grass

Welcome to 40Days Of Gratitude day 11!  Thank the Lord we are now on week two and thank you for joining me on this adventure.

Today I am grateful and thankful for the gifts of insight and inspiration.  These two are twins.  Whenever I get an insight, that is, a new way forward or a solution I have been looking for I must be inspired to take action.  I have to say that when I move on an insight in a timely manor it always work out.  As I move along, I get further insight to direct me along the way to crystallize the original idea or thought.  This happens more and more as I cease from worry and rest in the lord.

Lord, I am especially grateful for how this is working out in my life now because it was not always like this.  I used to be so bogged down with worry and stress so much so that when I get a good insight I get excited and then let it die, only to see the same idea materialize through other people. Then I would say, oh gee, I had the same idea but did nothing with it😒😒😒 Jesus, I have been a tough student in this area but you didn't give up on me.
πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–

THOUGHT TO FOCUS ON:

When I stay in thanksgiving and praise;  when I remain calm and peaceful I leave space to hear from God through the Holy Spirit.

SCRIPTURE:

Proverbs 24:3(TPT)-Wise people are builders - they build families, businesses, communities.  And through intelligence and insight their enterprises are established and endure.

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus I come before you today to say thank you for your patience and loving kindness towards me.  Because you are a patient and caring God who never gives up on any one, teach me to be patient and to be loving in being patient. I appreciate you, Jesus, I adore you Jesus.

In Jesus name I pray.  AMEN πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

➢➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣

Brothers and sisters, patience is a virtue worth developing.  Let us start with being patient with ourselves and work it from there. As we grow, we pull up everyone around us, sometimes without even uttering a word.

Have an insightful day,

Beverley

40Days Of Gratitude with Bev Allen - Day 10: Mentors

Scandinave in the Blue Mtn
A favourite hangout for me
and one of my mentors Pat.
Welcome to 40Days Of Gratitude day 10!  Thank the Lord we are now on week two and thank you for joining me on this adventure.

Today I am grateful and thankful for my mentors.  And Lord you have placed me in some situations and places where I was coached and groomed by supervisors, teachers, family members, friends and colleagues that prepared and propelled me along this life journey even though I may not have been aware of it at the time.  The lady who first gave me a change and hired me in the insurance industry, Mrs. Gloria Levy, Jamaica Mutual Life; her patience and guidance prepared me to be hired on the spot by Jim Kennedy, Dominion Life when I returned to Toronto in 1977.  Jim Kennedy stretched me to bring out my capabilities and I am so grateful because that prepared me for a life long career in financial services. Since I started working I have never been unemployed, praise God! These folks may have passed on but their legacies live on through me and others they have mentored; and through the lives we have sown into.

THOUGHT TO FOCUS ON:

Everybody needs somebody to believe in them even when they don't believe in themselves.  If you are breathing, you need encouragement.

SCRIPTURE:

1 Thessalonians 4:1 (TPT)-Brothers and sisters since you have been mentored by us with respect to living for God and pleasing him, I appeal to you in the name of the Lord Jesus with this request: keep faithfully growing through our teachings even more and more.

PRAYER:

Lord Jesus, our greatest mentor and friend, I thank you for all the people you have placed in my life who have mentored and encouraged me.  Help me to be a good mentor and to sow seeds of encouragement every opportunity I get.

In Jesus name I pray.  AMEN πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

➢➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣

It is so important to have people in our lives who we can turn to for advice and encouragement.  As human beings we are wired for connection, no man can be an island unto himself.  Our families and communities are stronger when people cooperate and add value to each other.  Teens and young people especially need acknowledgement so do greet them when you pass they by, they do respond and you would be surprise the conversations you can strike up with a young person! Together we make the difference we are looking for in society.

Grace & peace,

40Days Of Gratitude with Bev Allen - Day 9: "The Intelligent Friend"

Snowshoeing with friends
of the HPSC
Welcome to 40Days Of Gratitude day 9!  Thank the Lord we are now on week two and thank you for joining me on this adventure.

Today I am grateful and thankful for that one friend who will tell me like it is, or as they see if, in a loving and respectful way knowing full well that they are risking losing the friendship.  I have always appreciated frankness from people, even though it doesn't always feel comfortable.  Matter of fact it is sometimes quite painful.  I did not know that there was a  concept  for this called "the intelligent friend" until I was having a spirited discussion with a friend when the question was posed to me; "what would you rather, telling a friend the truth, something they may not want to hear and risk losing the friend, or saying nothing knowing that being silent may cost the friend dearly but you preserve your friendship?"   It takes courage to be "the intelligent friend" and they are rare for sure, so I am all the more grateful to have someone like that in my life.

THOUGHT TO FOCUS ON:

It is better to do the right thing and lose a friend that to be a hypocrites.  They may come to appreciate your honesty some day, and even if they don't, you will feel good knowing you kept your integrity.

SCRIPTURE:

Proverbs 27:9 (NLT)-The heartfelt counsel of a friend is as sweet as perfume and incense.

PRAYER:

Precious Saviour, my  Lord Jesus Christ, my friend and my protector, I thank you for that one friend who would risk losing our friendship to try stopping me from going over the proverbial cliff rather than standing by mum, and then say - see, I knew that was going to happen.  This is a true friend and I thank you Jesus for that one and I ask that you grant me the courage to be truthful and helpful to all of your children in a loving way.

In Jesus name I pray.  AMEN.πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

➢➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣

My sincere desire is to be completely authentic and transparent.  It is a process so I am being patient with myself while always reflecting on my actions.  I pray that you my friends have such a friend in your life and are also willing to be that "the intelligent friend" to others.

Grace & peace,
Beverley

40Days Of Gratitude with Bev Allen - Day 8: Mental Clarity

Early summer bloom
from my garden

It's the start of week 2 brethren, which means we are getting closer to Christmas. Welcome to 40Days Of Gratitude day 8!  Thank you for joining me on this adventure.

Today I am grateful and thankful for clarity of mind and a heightened sense of awareness for it was not always like this.  When I was younger I dint understand intuition.  The older folks used to admonish young people to trust God and do what is the will of God but they did not explain what this was or how to know what is the will of God.  I sincerely wanted to do God's will but I didn't understand much; plus I was confused and conflicted about what I wanted and what God wanted for me.  I am grateful for the progress that I have made over the years and for those whom you have put in my path, Lord, as well as the circumstance's that landed me on the path of the seeker.  I am continually drilling down deeper to know your Truth.

THOUGHT TO FOCUS ON:

Because I have a clear mind I am decisive in making decisions and taking action.  I know that, as the scripture has said, a double minded man is unstable in all of his ways.

SCRIPTURE:

Romans 12:2 (ESV)-Do not be conformed to the world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

PRAYER:

Righteous, loving God, as you have open up my understanding and increased my ability to discerns - to see and hear past the visible and the audible, I pray father God that you will impart these gifts to all who seek you and who are lacking and those of us who still need to get deeper in your word and your ways.  As we continue to seek you and get closer to you I pray that you will increase our knowledge, wisdom and understanding so that we are equipped to carry out your perfect will in our lives and help others on their journey.  Increase our joy and our peace in you, and let us walk with boldness.

In Jesus name I pray.  AMEN.πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

➢➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣

As we go about our routines today, let us pay attention to the "ah ha" moments, the insights that the Lord put in our minds through the Holy Spirit.  It may be the solution to a problem, or the answer how to approach something or someone.  This is how God speaks to us.  You may just get up and know how to do something that has been stressing you - that has been my experience!

Grace & peace,

Beverley

Today I am grateful and thankful for restoration.  I was broken, and Lord, you made me whole again.  I was consumed with grief and sadness and you comforted me; I was dismayed, I suffered loss - family, friends, financial, betrayals, deception, rejection and scorn but you healed me and returned me to wholeness.  Even those that "kicked up their heels" against me have been astonished and put to shame. Like Job, you have made my latter days better than my former, and I know that you are not done with me yet.  Father God, I thank you and I appreciate you.

THOUGHT TO FOCUS ON:

I am who God say that I am; not only do I believe this, I know it.

SCRIPTURE:

Psalm 23:3 (KJV) - He Restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the path of righteousness for his name sake.
Suggestion:  Read the whole chapter, it's a short one.

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, my redeemer, my provider, my deliverer, thank you for all that you have done and for you loving kindness and tender mercies towards me and my family.  I ask you to grant us the awareness, the courage and sensitivity to minister to others who are hurting and need compassion and kindness.  Let us always remember that it is through us that you attend to the needs of others.

In Jesus name I pray.  AMEN.

➢➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣➣

To whom much is given much is required; so as we are being healed and experience breakthroughs and blessings let us be open vessels to be use by God to be a blessing to others.

πŸ‘ΌπŸ‘ΌπŸ‘Ό

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

Today I am grateful and thankful for family.  Our foundation is rooted in our families.  My family gives me a sense of my place in the world, a standing in community and I am thankful and do appreciate so much that the foundation was laid for me to build on.  I realize many are not as fortunate in this sense, in that they have experience instability which makes more challenging to establish themselves and create family foundation for themselves.  I am thankful for and appreciate every member of my family and the role they played in moulding me into the person I have become.  From parents and grandparents, aunts and uncles, my siblings down to my spouse (ex) and my own children.  It is in my family that I learned to be a caring, loving person.  I learned unconditional love from my parents.

THOUGHT TO FOCUS ON:

My family is my foundation that God gave me to learn and grow, and make my contribution to society.

SCRIPTURE:

Psalms 133: v1-Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity. v2-It is like precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garment; v3-As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for ever more.

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of family. Thank you for their love and support and for the lessons they are here to teach us.Thank you for having rooted and grounded me in unconditional love and a deep sense of belonging which has given me the stability I needed to develop into the person you designed me to be. Father, I pray for restoration in all families where there is brokenness and discord.  I pray for their salvation, that they will come to know you and follow your precepts for joy in their earthly journey and eternal life.

In Jesus name I pray.  AMEN.

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

Today I am grateful and thankful for the friends you have connected me with at every stage of my life.  I am forever grateful for the gift of friendship. My life has been blessed by all my friends and today I honour those who have stuck with me and helped me navigate through the swampy years.  Where would I be without their steadfast love and support, their encouragement, listening ears and wise counsel?  They have been the midwives attending to the birth of my true self, my soul.

40Days Of Gratitude with Bev Allen - Day 4: Peace Of Mind

Bishop doing what he loved
Welcome to 40Days Of Gratitude day 4!  Thank you for joining me on this adventure.

Today I am grateful and thankful for peace in my mind. I remember many years ago when I was wrought with frustrations, problems and ceaseless worry.  Then you, O Lord, through your servant Bishop C.O. Ricketts, in a casual conversation without even knowing what I was experiencing on the inside, brought to my attention that the most important thing in life is to have peace in your mind. I went home that afternoon thinking about this, and how I can get to that place.  Since then, with diligence and intention I sought it, I found it, and I definitely intend to keep it. I now know exactly what Bishop was talking about.

THOUGHT TO FOCUS ON:

There is nothing in this world that is worth trading my peace of mind for.

SCRIPTURE:

Proverbs 4:23 (CEB) -  More than anything, guard, protect your mind for life flows from it.

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, I come before you in the name of your son Jesus Christ in thanksgiving and appreciation for restoring peace in my mind.  I pray Father, that you will help me, guide and instruct me to conduct myself in such a way as to always keep my peace. I pray also, that I will carry this peace in all of my interactions and undertakings so that you will be glorified.

In Jesus name I pray.  AMEN.
