40Days Of Gratitude With Bev Allen - Day 16: MY BIRTH PLACE & COUNTRY JAMAICA

That's me hiking up the river in
the area

Welcome to 40 Days Of Gratitude day 16!  Thank the Lord for week 3.  Thank you for staying with me on this adventure. I am looking forward to reading your comments and sharing your stories:  Revelations, problems solved, ideas conceived and birthed etc.

At the end of the devotion I invite you to do a short quiet reflection of 5 - 10 minutes. Breath deeply and focus on your breath - inhalation and exhalation.  If your mind is "busy" repeat the gratitude of the day or your own personal gratitude that comes to mind.  This quite time will allow you to hear from God.

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

Today I am grateful and thankful for my birth country Jamaica, and my little home district of Braehead. High up above sea level in the hills of Clarendon not far from the Bull Head Mountain is this rural community that taught me about caring for your neighbour, cooperating for community good and how strong we can be collectively. Lord, the studies have shown that a child's early years are the most important, and I can now see why all the children of my generation born in Braehead have gone on to build successful lives and raised successful and productive children all over the world.  I took my upbringing for granted until I got exposed to the world and get to know that so many have not been so fortunate. I appreciate my community and upbringing so much.

THOUGHT TO FOCUS ON:

I am rooted and grounded on the rock,  gospel of Jesus Christ.

SCRIPTURE:

Luke 6:48 (AMP)-He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock; and when a flood occurred, the torrent burst against that house and yet could not shake it, because it had been securely built and founded on the rock.

PRAYER:

Father God, thank you for the people of Braehead, for my forefathers and for those who remain.  Thank you for the examples they set for community life.  Help those who are still there, and those of us who have made other places home to remember the foundations of our forefathers laid down for us, help us to continue to build and expand where ever we may be.

In Jesus name I pray.  AMEN πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

What ever you do, where ever you go stay rooted and grounded in solid principles that form the foundation of good character.  When we were children we were constantly reminded that looks alone cannot take far in life but a good character will continue to pay dividends all our lives.

Stand tall,

Beverley
