40Days Of Gratitude With Bev Allen - day 35: Nurses & Healthcare Workers

Welcome to 40 Days Of Gratitude day 35!  Thank the Lord, today we complete week 5, and what an adventure! We now have 4 days of focusing on our blessings and not our problems before the big day which  is CHRISTMAS and 5 days to complete the challenge; that will be  FORTY DAYS of being GRATEFUL!!   Thank sharing this awesome experience with me. I am looking forward to reading your comments and sharing your stories:  Revelations, problems solved, ideas conceived and birthed etc.

At the end of the devotion I invite you to do a short quiet reflection of 5 - 10 minutes. Breathe deeply and focus on your breath - inhalation and exhalation.  If your mind is "busy" repeat the gratitude of the day or your own personal gratitude that comes to mind.  This quite time will allow you to hear from God.

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

Today I am grateful for nurses and all healthcare workers.  I just could not complete this forty day gratitude challenge without expressing my deep and sincere appreciation for nurses and the other workers in the healthcare sector who are the front line and the backbone of healthcare delivery in every country, in every station of life.  I have not met a nurse or another healthcare worker who is not helpful and compassionate.  I have many clients who are nurses and other category of workers in this sector and I can tell you they are dedicated and hard working.  Let me just say this, thank you for all that you do, thank you for your boundless energy and dedication in taking care of your fellow human beings.

THOUGHT TO FOCUS ON:

With God all things are possible, and when I believe and show appreciation for his goodness, even more goodness and mercy is given to me.

SCRIPTURE:

Mark 1:31 (TPT) He walked up to her bedside, gently took her hand, and raised her up! Her fever disappeared and she began to serve them.

PRAYER:

Father, in the name of Jesus I come before you to give you thanks and praise for imparting your knowledge and wisdom to us humans who are your handiwork.  I thank you for all the men and women who choose the profession of nursing and all of the auxiliary staff of the hospital, clinics, doctors offices, laboratories and other institutions  in delivering medical care and support to the sick and wounded everywhere.  You made these professionals with the stomach and grit to see us humans in our worst states and be able to love and care for us.  Lord I appreciate it so much.  I have seen and heard of so many situations where the sick would be written off "as just as good as dead" or be literally discarded by the undiscerning but with your mercy and the caring hands of healthcare workers they come back to life, sometimes better than their prior state.  You are indeed a mighty God.
In Jesus name I pray, AMEN πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

If you have to visit the hospital or clinic during the holiday season remember to be a little bit more patient and understanding.  These facilities are usually crowded because of high demand and short staff and it is easy to lash out but remember, these workers would probably much prefer to be at home with their loved ones too.  adopt my special mantra:  everything always work out form me, the right thing will happen.

Acknowledge the staff and thank them for the work they do, they will appreciate it.

Grace & Peace,
Beverley

  1. As a child growing up my only desire was to be a nurse.I have so much experience of how rewarding it is to help improve the out come of someone's day.It brings to mind something I wrote as part of my reflective practice during the first year of nursing school. " If I can help one person to feel better, have a better day or help to make them smile them it was worth being at work". I am grateful for all the sacrificial work that this particular group do everyday. They leave their own family member sick and go to take care of a complete stranger. No salary can compensate this group of people. God bless us all.
