At the end of the devotion I invite you to do a short quiet reflection of 5 - 10 minutes. Breath deeply and focus on your breath - inhalation and exhalation. If your mind is "busy" repeat the gratitude of the day or your own personal gratitude that comes to mind. This quite time will allow you to hear from God.

TODAY'S DEVOTION:
Today I am grateful and thankful for my mentors. And Lord you have placed me in some situations and places where I was coached and groomed by supervisors, teachers, family members, friends and colleagues that prepared and propelled me along this life journey even though I may not have been aware of it at the time. The lady who first gave me a change and hired me in the insurance industry, Mrs. Gloria Levy, Jamaica Mutual Life; her patience and guidance prepared me to be hired on the spot by Jim Kennedy, Dominion Life when I returned to Toronto in 1977. Jim Kennedy stretched me to bring out my capabilities and I am so grateful because that prepared me for a life long career in financial services. Since I started working I have never been unemployed, praise God! These folks may have passed on but their legacies live on through me and others they have mentored; and through the lives we have sown into.
THOUGHT TO FOCUS ON:
Everybody needs somebody to believe in them even when they don't believe in themselves. If you are breathing, you need encouragement.
SCRIPTURE:
1 Thessalonians 4:1 (TPT)-Brothers and sisters since you have been mentored by us with respect to living for God and pleasing him, I appeal to you in the name of the Lord Jesus with this request: keep faithfully growing through our teachings even more and more.
PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, our greatest mentor and friend, I thank you for all the people you have placed in my life who have mentored and encouraged me. Help me to be a good mentor and to sow seeds of encouragement every opportunity I get.
In Jesus name I pray. AMEN πππ

It is so important to have people in our lives who we can turn to for advice and encouragement. As human beings we are wired for connection, no man can be an island unto himself. Our families and communities are stronger when people cooperate and add value to each other. Teens and young people especially need acknowledgement so do greet them when you pass they by, they do respond and you would be surprise the conversations you can strike up with a young person! Together we make the difference we are looking for in society.
Grace & peace,
Beverley

God, may I follow your guidance to always be on my path. Amen. π
